Nicholas Little – Retired business owner and member of the Australian Defence Force
Now retired, Nicholas’ background includes Defence, Government and small business ownership – he has been a member of the Albury business chambers since 2007. Originally from the South of England, Nick was a Royal Navy officer for 26 years until moving to Albury, from Great Britain, in 2001. Career highlights included the Falklands Conflict of 1982, and Command of both Australian and British warships.
As a young Officer, he gained a BSc in ‘Systems and Management’ from City University, London. In his final appointment he worked with personnel planners, ship designers and future operators to help formulate the future crews for about 12 significant projects – Human Factors Integration in action. In 2007 Nick, and his wife Alice, opened the Beacon Lighting – Albury Franchise. They saw enormous change in their 12 years of ownership working nearly every day, along with their two sons whenever they were available. Before owning the business, Nicholas worked for 2 years in the Commonwealth Parliamentary system and before that, as a contractor for the Defence Science and Technology Organisation.
Nicholas is looking forward to being involved with the Business Awards again, and helping to celebrate the Region’s rich and diverse business community.
